Sun Tzu (544 BC - 496 BC) was a Chinese general, strategist and philosopher best known for his military treatise, The Art of War, consisting of 13 chapters of military strategies. Sun Tzu, also spelled as Sunzi, was a historical figure whose existence is questioned by several historians. His birth name was Sun Wu, Sun being his surname and Tzu a title which means "Master". Traditionally, Sun Tzu had lived in the Spring and Autumn Period of China (722 BC - 481 BC) as a general of King Hu Lu.
More recent historians, who admit its existence, date their work, The Art of War, from the Warring States Period (476 BC - 221 BC), based on the descriptions of the war in that book, and the similarity of the way in which the text was written. with other work done at the beginning of the Warring States period.
