Genghis Khan, also spelled as Genghis Khan (in Mongolian: Чингис Хаан; transl .: Tchinghis Khaan; 1162 - 18 August 1227) was the title of a conqueror and also, currently, the name of the Mongolian emperor (khan), born with the name of Temudjin near the river Onon, near Lake Baikal. He described himself as "the scourge of God". Genghis Khan was born surrounded by legends about the coming of a gray wolf that devoured the whole Earth.
Still young, he killed the wolf and became very famous in his tribe, faced the rejection of his family by his own clan, but he would return to gain his leadership, beat his rivals from different clans and unify the Mongol peoples under his command. Brilliant strategist, with skillful archers at his disposal, he won the Great Wall of China, conquered that country and extended his empire towards the west and south.
